One of the goals for forming MHTA was to be able to enter MOU’s and Adopt-a-Trail programs to protect designated horse trails where it hasn’t worked out to form individual trail associations. MHTA has entered our first Adopt-a-Park contract with Genesee County for the equestrian trails at Elba. Hard working volunteers have advocated for this park for many years, we thank those who have stood by and waited it out to get to this moment where we can focus energy toward improvements at this high-quality trail system in Michigan. If you haven’t ridden here, it’s near Flint, MI and the water features, elevation, swimming opportunity, low deer fly population, hiking and equestrian trails, and no hunting make it a desirable destination. We will be having our first work bee April 12th and the county has a bunch of improvements planned for the park for this season. It’s exciting times for riders who have love this park!
