Ortonville Recreation Area equestrian trails received ARPA funding for improvements. Thank you to the DNR for the funding and to Ortonville Recreation Equestrian Association for all your work on the project too. Get out there and enjoy these amazing improvements!

The total project scope included the four separate projects noted below. Project #4 was eliminated from the scope of work due to a reroute being constructed instead. The total length of the trails improved was 2,500 feet at a width of 6 feet.

Project #1: Muddy section on North side of Trail 3A (Ant Hill Lane): 1,120 ft long x 6 ft wide x 6 inches thick

Project #2: Muddy section and install 3 culverts on new trail east of Jasmond Rd: 1030 ft long x 6 ft wide x 6 inches thick. Install 12” culverts at 3 locations. Level side slopes on hills

Project #3: Muddy section on Trail 3A south of Danger split rail fencing: 110 ft long x 6 ft wide x 6 inches thick

Project #4: Muddy section on north side of Trail #1 leading to new trail: 250 ft long x 6 ft wide x 6 inches thick = 750 cubic ft / 27 cubic ft per yd = 28 yards.

Project #5: Muddy section just before post #3 coming from the south: 240 ft long x 6 ft wide x 6 inches thick

Equipment used by the contractor:
A gravel train to haul material, one large excavator, three skid steers, and a roller to compact the material.
Total cost of the project was $26,750, $10.70/foot.

The project took 8 days to complete. Work began on October 1st, 2024 and was completed on October 10th, 2024.
