Barb enjoys traveling around the country with her horse’s pleasure riding and competing in endurance. She has been riding endurance for over 30 years with over 9,000 competitive miles. Barb and her horse, Kulta, finished the 1-day 100-mile Tevis Cup in 2021 in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, California. She manages the Oak Leaf Run Distance Ride and in 2025, she managed the 7-day Shore-to-Shore Distance Ride which brought riders from 28 states and Canada to Michigan to enjoy the Shore-to-Shore trail. Barb is Vice President of Great Lakes Distance Riding Association, on the ride manager committee with AERC, hosts a two-day distance riding clinic to welcome new riders to the sport in Western Michigan, has been a presenter at the MHC Equine Expo and at numerous libraries. Barb also is key in helping to maintain horse trails throughout the state of Michigan. She also is the Southwest Equine Trails Subcommittee Representative, serving as an advisor to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Barb brings her passion for educating the trail rider and camper to MHTA. She has an eye for the big picture and the determination it takes to get there.
